RealMEN - Steve Johnson, Director

Steve Johnson, Director, RealMEN

Our RealMEN Ministry is specifically designed to meet the many needs of the men of the D3CU church between the ages of 18 and 80 to grow in their Spiritual relationship with the Lord and to reach their full potential in Christ while developing as Men of God in their relationships with their families. Most men are busy working long hours and spending time with their families. But it’s also important for men to get away from the business of life and to have a place where they can meet together in Christian fellowship.

RealMEN, the Men's Ministry of the Delaware Church of Christ in Christian Union, is:

An approved auxiliary for men within the church under the church board to equip men to serve others and to have personal service extended to them as well.

An umbrella-type arrangement that engulfs all things men do within the church with the central goal of ministry to others, to the church, to their families, and themselves.

A redemptive and evangelistic arm of the church to bring men to the Lord and closer to each other.

A group of workers who serve under appointment and are financially self-supporting.

Self-committing ministry that has its own list of responsibilities and job descriptions.

Aaron Jeoffrey (father and son musical ministry)

"Our mission as Aaron Jeoffrey is not only to project our positive relationship as father and son. But most importantly, to present the person of Christ to everyone who sees us or listens to our music; to be a reflection of his character in our daily lives as well as in our ministry; to always keep in focus that Jesus died for people and people are most important to him; to not only strive for excellence in our music but to touch hearts and lives at their deepest needs; to always exalt the savior and give him the glory because it all begins and ends with Him. When these elements are achieved, then our mission is accomplished."

On their self-titled debut album, the father and son duo Aaron Jeoffrey combines infectious adult contemporary melodies with meaty lyrics to deliver music that addresses the feelings and needs of listeners from ages 9-90. Their faith is so intricately woven into the fabric of their lives that expressing it through music seems as natural as breathing. "I [believe] that in America today, a big problem is the relationship between parents and their children," Jeoffrey states. "It is normal for us that we are great friends and hang out and minister together, but many times people say, 'It is amazing that you guys can do all this together.'

"One goal is to show a positive parent/child relationship, and hopefully be a role model for fathers and their sons or parents and their children," Aaron adds. "We have taken to heart the last prophetic word of the Old Testament where it says in Malachi 4:6 that 'The fathers' hearts would be turned to their children and the children's' hearts to their fathers, lest I smite them with a curse.' Every social problem that we face today can be traced back to a dysfunctional family life. We [want to address] these problems not only through our songs but by simply being who we are."

Jeoffrey has long been respected for having one of Christian music's most focused and fruitful ministries. A native of Ft. Wayne, Indiana he has actively toured and recorded for years, garnering a reputation as one of the industry's most accomplished singer/songwriters, known for such powerful songs as "Let the Church Rise," and "A Man of God." (He also co-wrote Phillips, Craig & Dean's recent number one hit "The Concert of the Age.")

Aaron, who had left his mark as a National Merit Scholar and All-State Basketball player in high school, decided to pursue a college degree before getting involved in music on a professional level. While finishing up his studies at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, on a soccer, music, and academic scholarship, Aaron continued to write music and practice his vocal skills.

When Aaron expressed an interest in following his father's footsteps Jeoffrey was impressed by his son's motivation. "I am really proud of him because he didn't say we can do a record or we're going to travel, etc." Jeoffrey relates. "He said, 'I am really convinced that God can use us to touch people's lives,' and I said to him, 'that's the call of God'."

Father and son went into the studio and started working on their debut album... the result is a collection of songs that are both scripturally based and songs of growth from personal experience. One of the most powerful cuts is a song called "He Is" on which Jeoffrey sings lead. The song, which he co-wrote with Jeff Silvey, describes Christ in each book of the Bible. "Years ago I heard a pastor share a sermon in which he pointed to Christ in every book of the Bible-- and I thought that would be a great idea for a song.
