Small
groups target the needs of the congregation.
First, we are better able to build Christ-centered
friendships because we gather together in fellowship
as we are actively pursuing the Church's goals of
helping the needy, witnessing to others, and building
stability in the church. Then, secondly, we learn the
skills necessary to bring others to Christ through
discipleship and witnessing. The Bible teaches
us that we need to be in relationships for our
personal and spiritual growth as Christians. As Paul
and the early Christians taught and received teaching
“from house to house,” we too must walk with
Christ in each others homes (Acts 5:42; 20:20).
Christians who are serious about their faith should be
involved in small groups ministries, not only as a
member of a small group, but also leading a small
group ministry of their own.
The
D3CU has developed basic small group ministries for
meeting the needs of the young and old of the church's
membership. Small groups have been created for the
church youth, as well as a group for the men and a group
for the women. It is well known that most receive
information better and learn more when material is
presented in small group form. Therefore, the
foundation of every church begins with small group
ministries. More groups are added as the church
expands and the congregation presents a need for a new
small group. New small groups do not always have
to be conventional so the possibilities for small group
ministries is endless.
When
you become a Christian, you enter into a relationship
with God. We begin a fellowship with God and with other
Christians. The church is seen as a body (1
Corinthians 12) and Paul explains that each party of the
body exists to meet the needs of other body parts.
God intends each of us to meet the needs of other
believers, using our own strength to help in their areas
of weakness. 1 Corinthians 12:21 states "The
eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you."
Neither can a Christian be self-sufficient. God
wants us to meet together and our faith is made stronger
when we comfort one another, build up one another,
confess our sins to one another, pray for one another,
and how can we obey God's directions if we stay away
from the gathering of believers? Small
group ministries enable us to please God and help each
other to live in Christ's ways.

they will run and not grow weary, they will walk

Sunday
school classes range from nursery through adults with classes meeting in the lower
and upper levels of
the church. The classes are divided into groups
for Pre-Kindergarten through Second Grade; Third Grade
through Fifth Grade; Teen Group (Sixth Grade through Twelfth
Grade); and two Adult classes. Our teachers for
the young children's classes rotate on a monthly
basis. The teen group is taught by Chip Dever,
our Evangelical
Christian Youth Director. And, the instructors
for the adult classes rotate on a varying basis. If you
need further information about any of our classes,
contact Marilyn Stephens: our Sunday School Superintendent, by leaving a
message at the church 740.369.4943.
This
is an in-depth Bible study which is taught by various
members of the church. Presently, Becky Benner
is leading the Wednesday In The WORD Bible Study and the
group consisting of about a dozen members of the church
is studying 1 Peter. Materials for the bible study
are provided at each meeting. Please contact the
church office for further information if you are
interested in learning more about our Bible study
meetings.

W.O.W.
(Women of Worth):
Our
ladies enjoy this fellowship and outreach
ministry that specializes in relating the
Bible to women's issues. The goal is to
challenge women to grow beyond where they
presently are to become all that God created
them to be.
1
Peter 3:3-4:
3Your
beauty should not come from outward adornment,
such as braided hair and the wearing of gold
jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead,
it should be that of your inner self, the
unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is of great worth in God's sight.
The
women of our church meet once a month to have
a time of devotion and extended prayer.
There are various activities planned
throughout the year for W.O.W. The leader for
this ministry is Becky Benner.
