| Elders
1.
First Elder
- The first elder is the class leader
whose duty is to lead all prayer meetings
or see that such meetings are supplied
with a competent leader as approved by the
pastor.
- The first elder is required to cooperate
fully with the pastor.
- The first elder, with the pastor, is
charged with the responsibility of seeing
that the membership roll is kept and
reported, according to the rules of the
church. He/she shall see that names
and addresses of new members are duly
recorded.
- The first elder shall be eligible to
cast a vote in the District Council.
- The first elder shall receive church and
Sunday school report blanks at the end of
each council year and, with the pastor,
shall see that they are properly filled
out and sent to the District Council.
- The first elder shall receive and, with
the pastor, see that proper credentials
are filled out for council delegates,
first elder, and the Sunday school
superintendent. Thus, all these
delegates may be properly identified to
the District Council.
- The individual cannot, while holding
office of first elder, be Sunday school
superintendent, nor serve as an elected
church delegate to the District Council.
2.
Second Elder
- The
second elder is the clerical elder or
secretary of the local church whose duty
it is to see that all business
transactions, including that of all
boards, are duly recorded.
- For
any money received by them due credit
shall be given.
- The
second elder shall turn all money over to
the treasurer and issue all orders on
treasury for payment of funds as
authorized by proper officials.
- In
the absence of the first elder, and where
no leader has been supplied by the first
elder, the second elder shall lead the
prayer meeting or see that a competent
leader is provided as approved by the
pastor.
3.
Third Elder
- The
third elder is the financial elder or
treasurer of the local church whose duty
it is to receive all funds from the second
elder and pay out same as authorized by
proper officials. They shall deposit
all church monies in a bank, if possible,
and account for them according to sound
bookkeeping methods.
- In
the absence of the first and second elders
and where no leader has been supplied, the
third elder shall lead the prayer meeting
or see that a competent leader is provided
as approved by the pastor.
4.
Qualifications
- The
elders must be members of the local church
where they are elected and shall cooperate
with the local church, their pastor, and
the general organization.
- The
elders shall advocate and practice tithing
in the local church.
- No
person shall be elected to the office or
allowed to hold the office of an elder who
opposes the doctrine of sanctification as
a second definite work of grace.
- No
more than one (1) member of a single
household (husband, wife, or unmarried
children) may be an elder in a local
church at the same time.
- Any
violation of the rules relating to elders
or accusations against them shall subject
the violator to be called for a hearing
before the District Board of Trustees for
whatever action they deem necessary.
5.
Board of Elders
- The
three (3) elders, with the pastor as
chairperson, shall comprise a Board of
Elders.
- Their
duties shall be:
(1) They shall be responsible for the
promoting of the spiritual life of the
church.
(2) They shall serve as a pulpit supply
committee to select speakers in the
absence of the pastor and to approve the
pastor's selection of revival workers.
(3) They must have the approval of the
district superintendent for any person or
persons for pulpit ministries who are not
members of the denomination.
(4) They shall revise the membership roll
annually in accordance with the Constitution
and Bylaws.
- An
option for churches with two hundred (200)
members or more.
(1) A congregation with two hundred (200)
members or more shall have the option of
electing one (1) additional elder for each
additional one hundred (100) members or
fraction thereof.
(2) A congregation exercising this option
shall organize the Board of Elders
eliminating the categories of first,
second, and third elder.
(3) The enlarged representation of elders
shall be permitted to determine from among
themselves, with pastoral leadership, the
positions of lay leader, secretary, and
treasurer.

Trustees
- There
shall be three (3) or five (5) in number
who is elected by the vote of the local
church.
- There
duties shall be:
a. As a Board of Trustees they are
responsible to see that the property is
deeded to the general church. They
may either file it in a safe place
locally, or deposit it in the fireproof
vault at general headquarters.
b. They shall see that all needed
repairs are made, and the property well
kept. Where any expenditure is
sufficient to impose a burden upon the
church treasury, they shall submit their
plans to the church board.
c. They shall see that all church
properties are properly insured.
- Qualifications
a. They must be members of the local
church where they are elected and shall
cooperate with the local church, pastor,
and the general organization.
b. They shall practice and advocate
tithing in the local church.
c. No person shall be elected to the
office or allowed to the hold the office
of trustee who opposes the doctrine of
sanctification as a second definite work
of grace.
- Any
violation of these rules shall subject the
violator to be called for a hearing before
the church board or, when necessary,
before the District Board of Trustees for
whatever action they deem necessary.

Sunday
School Superintendent
- Duties:
a. The Sunday school superintendent
shall direct the Sunday school and see
that all classes are supplied each Sunday
with competent teachers in cases where
regular teachers are absent.
b. The Sunday school superintendent
shall be eligible to cast a vote in the
annual District Council.
c. The Sunday school superintendent
cannot while holding the office of Sunday
school superintendent be first elder or
serve as an elected delegate to the
District Council.
d. The Sunday school superintendent
shall see that no one fills the office of
a Sunday school teacher who is not a
member of the church, except by approval
of the official board, or who opposes the
doctrine of sanctification as a second
work of grace.
- Qualifications:
a. The Sunday school superintendent
must be a member of the local church where
elected, and shall cooperate with the
pastor, the local Christian Education
board, local church, and the general
organization.
b. The individual shall practice and
advocate tithing.
c. No person shall be elected to or
allowed to hold the office of Sunday
school superintendent who opposes the
doctrine of sanctification as second
definite work of grace.
- Any
violation of these rules shall subject the
violator to be called for a hearing before
the church board, or when necessary,
before the District Board of Trustees for
whatever action they deem necessary.

Evangelical
Christian Youth Director
- The
principal officer shall be elected by a
majority vote of the local congregation
according to the rules of the
church. Each principal officer's
term shall be for one (1) year unless
removed for cause. Each principal
officer must be a member of the local
church and shall cooperate with the
pastor, local officers, and the general
organization. The term of office
shall begin with the first Sunday of July
and shall terminate with the Saturday
prior to the first Sunday of the next
July.
- The
youth director shall supervise and promote
all youth work in the local church.
- The
youth director shall see that all meetings
and activities are properly staffed with
leaders and workers.

Church
Extension President
- The
Church Extension president's duties shall
be to promote church extension on the
local church level.
a. At least one (1) church extension
service shall be held each month and an
offering received for the benefit of our
church extension work.
b. The church extension president
shall promote the annual Thanksgiving and
Palm Sunday school offerings for church
extension.
c. All monies shall be sent promptly
to the general treasurer.
- The
church extension president shall be a
member of the local church where elected
and cooperate with the pastor and the
general organization.
- Any
violation of these rules shall subject the
violator to be called for a hearing before
the church board or, when necessary,
before the District Board of Trustees for
whatever action they deem necessary.

Missionary
President
- It
is the duty of the missionary president to
promote missionary work on a local church
level.
a. At least one (1) missionary
service shall be held each month and an
offering taken for the benefit of our
missionary work.
b. Offerings shall be sent to the
general treasurer.
- The
missionary president must be a member of
the local church where elected and shall
cooperate with the pastor, the local
church, and general organization.
- Before
any church can call a speaker who is not a
member of the Church of Christ in
Christian Union, the approval of the
district superintendent must be obtained.
- Any
violation of these rules shall subject the
violator to be called for a hearing before
the church board or, when necessary,
before the District Board of Trustees for
whatever action they deem necessary.
